Friday Night Fights--The Gift Style!!

Let's finish off this month with a bang, shall we?

For this week's Friday Night Fights, let's trek back to a time when the Avengers were visiting Hydrobase to set up their new headquarters. Meanwhile, Namor is there, too, crashing on Hydrobase because he's been ousted (yet again) from ruling Atlantis.

Well, Hercules sees the Sub-Mariner brooding...

...and he has the best plan to cheer Namor up!

Oh, it is on!

But finally, the rest of the Avengers intervene...

...and the Lion Of Olympus Hercsplains why he attacked:

See, it did cheer Namor up!!

Spacebooger is concerned that it sets a bad precedent letting fights end in a draw...

Men will be boys in Avengers #262 (1985), by Roger Stern, John Buscema and Tom Palmer.

Now is the time for you to go and vote for my fight! Why? If you don't, I'll be sad--and then Hercules will try to cheer me up!! So save me--and go vote!!

All Wishes Come True, Eventually!

From the Answer Man column appearing in Ghosts #86 (1980):

Gold star for that answer!

It only took 33 years, kicking Green Lantern to the curb after a bomb of a movie, and changing Ollie's name to Arrow because CW was embarrassed to be doing a super-hero series. But "Unsigned", you've got your TV show!!

Still, with the success of CW's efforts, how long do you think before we get "Lantern" (gotta drop the green) drops by "Starling City" (sigh) and we get some "hard-traveling heroes" on a, say, 3-part road trip during sweeps week?

Crisis On Earth-C (And Earth C-Minus)!!

Some days...

...you just need a heapin' helpin' of funny animal heroes to save your day.

Best Cover You've Never Seen--Mary Marvel #5 (1946)!

Look, it's been a long, stressful week, in a nasty, bitterly cold month. Everyone is grouchy, everyone is tired.

Well, here's the perfect tonic for you:

Ahhhh, I feel better already.

Why Fish Shouldn't Be Given UN Membership!

The incredibly dim Doctor Judd has been trying to find a way to communicate with sea life!! And then he finds a "genius" dolphin, and proceeds to teach him all about humanity.

SPOILER ALERT: This was not a good idea.

So Star the super-smart dolphin proceeds to organize all sea life in a revolt against man's tyranny!

Fact: it doesn't go well for humankind.

(Just for the record, if you don't think an octopus can be that deadly out of the water, you might want to check this out)

Well, there really is only one solution:

Really, Atlantis (Marvel or DC) should have been this effective!

And so it passes...

Well, that's it for Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, I guess...

But wait!
A whale? In the East River?!?!

"Just as we have our political assassinations here on land, the fish of the sea are having theirs!"

Holy shit.

Of course, neither the whale nor the dolphin are fish, so...

Does that mean the whale is Lee Harvey Oswald?

Why did the whale assassinate Star? BECAUSE. Cease with your foolish human questions.

And just pray that another genius fish doesn't appear in our lifetime!!

Manic Monday Triple Overtime--Mushmouth The Magician?

OK, what's next on our Monday docket?

Oh, great, another Golden Age magician!!

We've already seen that many of them ripped of Zatara's gimmick of speaking backwards, and some who just did Pig Latin--who knew magic was so flipping easy?

So what's this "Miracle Man's" shtick?

No--seriously? He just says thing in ersatz Ubbi Dubbi? Really?

Yes, really.

So, the lesson today, kids, is this: practice talking funny, and you too can do magic!!
